Office 2003 problems

by brianaaa12 . Updated 22 years, 6 months ago

I am running Windows XP Pro. I recently upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2003. Everything went smoothly in my own profile. It asked me if I wanted to upgrade, I selected “yes” and finished the install. I then installed the critical Office 2003 updates. Still all was well. But when my wife logged in, things weren’t so great. First of all, in her profile, it was like I didn’t even do the upgrade. I had to go through all of it again. But when that was done, Outlook 2003 was not sending any emails. It went through the Send/Receive routine without errors, but never actually sent anything. The emails remained in the outbox. In additon, it wasn’t fetching email either. Again, it didn’t report any problems whatsoever.

I attempted to do a repair, but that made matters worse. After that, it said it couldn’t find a valid profile and that I should go to the control panel and run the Mail applet and add a profile. BUT, when I attempted to do that, I got an error saying I didn’t have enough memory to open the application.

In short, per usual, MS products have once again managed to wax my system. Any ideas what the hell is going on? And, WHY should I have to install the upgrade for EVERY user? That’s insane. Isn’t there a way to upgrade the app for all users in one shot?
