old computer needs upgrade

I purchased a old computer with Windows 98 on it i want to install windowx xp I dont have a key for the program but i do have the dell disc.The computer i bought is a Dell can i install windows that way for free and what about the drivers how do i get all of those so the computer will work correctly.I want to wipe it clean and boot from that disc all i need is to learn how and where to get free drivers for that machine or is there something else i need to do
