opening attachments with saving them

My organization send and receive a lot of .exe files. Recently we upgraded to Office XP and Outlook wouldn’t open anymore. I edited the registry to “unlock” those attachments but now Outlook asks me to save them before opening them. Is there a way to open those .exe files without saving them first?
