OS installation

Because I need a Netware client and am currently using XP Home Edition, I am switching over to Pro. Can I install XP Pro directly over Home Edition and still retain all of my files? Will I have to reset all of my networking settings that I am now using? Is there any other way with Home Edition to install a Microsoft Client for Netware Networks?
