Outllook 2003

Problem:

When i receive a message on outlook 2003,i get the alert box message on the side tray(which is correct) ,but then when i click on the alert box it doesn’t open the actual message.

I also tried again click on the arrow button and click no OPEN ITEM.But it never opened the item

Solution:

I have tried to use detect and repair but it still does that.Its really not understanding the concept to fix this problem,can anyone please help.
