Outlook 2000 with OpenOffice 1.0

I installed Outlook 2000 and OpenOffice 1.0 on a Windows 2000 server. I made the file associations in Windows 2000 to open the correct file types in OpenOffice like .doc, .xls, etc. When I try to open an attachment nothing happens. If I try to open the same file outside of Outlook 2000 everything works OK. I checked the system file associations in the Control Panel and in the user profile everything looks correct. Does anyone have an idea on how to remedy this problem?
