OUTLOOK 2003- Msg hung in out box

Running Office 2003 Std edition upgrade. Op sys is Windows XP PRO-Pent 4 2.8 1G RAM.

there is a regular sized message (no attachments) hung in the outbox. cannot delete always get msg “Outlook is currently sending this msg” when try to delete … anyone have any ideas. sometimes that msg prevents other emails from being sent out. the way around that is close Outlook and reopen…then the “other” msgs get sent but that one still hangs up..
