outlook calendar repeating events

when repeating events such as birthdays are put in outlook calendar, you can enter the initial date (actual birthdate). When displayed, the event title does not indicate which birthday it is. However, if the calendar is synched with a windows smartphone, the event name is displayed WITH the number of the event after it in parenthesis. It is hard to believe that outlook doesn’t do this somehow since so many less sophisticated programs do. Is there any way to get outlook to display the occurance number of the repeating event?
