Outlook Folder Import

Am trying to import items from personal folders file to exchange mailbox, using outlook 2003. I can access items in the personal folders and move them manually. However if I use the import wizard I receive the message “The operation failed. An object could not be found”. I also receive this message if I try to close the personal folders.
None of the articles in the MS KB that contain references to this message match the situation that I am experiencing.
Any input on this issue would be gratefully received.
