Outlook (Microsoft) Personal Folders

A user connects via VPN…

today he was in the office and his mail was not working…send and receive..

when i checked his emails.. outlook … everything was under personal folders and not under his own profile (using exchange account)..

i copied all the emails in his personal folders inbox to his account inbox…

then i copied all the sub-directories of the emails from the personal folders inbox to the user inbox..

removed personal folders from the properties/settings…

and now all his mail is there in the inbox… but all the mail in the sub-directories have gone missing..

I need an answer to how to retrieve this.. obviously I cannot retrieve from backup tape as this is used to be saved in the personal folders list.
