Outlook or Outlook Express??

I love Outlook Express except for one minor aspect and that is: I would like to leave an away message when I am not here.I understand Outlook will do this.

Is changing to Outlook a major undertaking?
Will I be disappointed using Outlook instead of Outlook express?

Are there other ways to do this without changing to Outlook?
