Outlook XP will no longer send emails

After installing Outlook 2000 on stand alone pc with dsl, the current outlook xp stopped sneding emails, but does receive.uninstalled outlook 2000 and reinstalled just msaccess with tools from 2000 cd. Email worked for a day and then stopped sending. also lost word as email editor.
