Outlook2000 crashes when working offline

I have a laptop with Windows 2000 professional and outlook 2000, when I connect to the exchange mailbox online everything is fine. When I try to run outlook offline, the application crashes with an application error C0000005.
I have deleted the ost file and recreated it and get the same error. I have uninstalled outlook and re-installed and I still get the same error.
Any help would be appreciated.
