PDF-to-DOC Question

by galahad04 . Updated 23 years, 11 months ago

Hi, I have a client who wants me to convert a PDF document to a Word .doc document so that we can make updates to the file (the client deleted the original source file so we have to convert the PDF itself here). The trouble is that in addition todeleting the source file, the source file itself was a WordPerfect document. Because it is a WordPerfect file, using the Acrobat Save As feature to save the PDF as an RTF file does not work — the formatting of the resulting file is all messed up.I have also tried using Acrobat?s Magellan 3d-party plug-in which converts PDF to HTML, but again the formatting does not render correctly because of the WordPerfect-based formatting. Additionally I tried saving the file out as a series of .TIF files and then using Acrobat?s PaperCapture feature to make the images text, but I get an error message saying that PaperCapture does not support the TIF file’s resolution.

Any ideas how I might be able to get around this WordPerfect-specific issue so that I can get a converted Word file? Or do I need to tell the client that she needs to redesign a Word source file from scratch?
