Problem with multiple contacts when sending an e-mail.?

In the name field on my “To:” on outlook 2002 when sending an Email I have multiple names for some of my contacts. It seems to be pulling through the name for every line on the contact, ie. one for telephone number, one for business fax, one for mobile etc. How can I fix this problem without deleting my contact?
