Project Server Customization

by mike . Updated 21 years, 3 months ago

I was really up in the air about where to post this, and settled on the database discussion board, since most of the customization that I am doing actually involves the database of project server itself.

Basically, I am trying to insert actual values from a timecard system, and actual values from an accounting system, into project server?s SQL database. Currently we are using a mish mash of text file exports, access VBA code, and project files to merge actual values with data from the project files. The end result is a series of project plans that are only updated, by hand, with percent complete, and a series of Access reports that reflect the merged data.

Has anyone done this before? Any tips, problems or otherwise?

Right now my biggest question is where the timecard data from project web access is stored in the database. I can?t seem to find it so far.

The way our actual values are represented rely on a great deal of calculations with rates that change frequently, as well as year to year. Currently my plan is to link tables from the Project SQL database into access, then write code to perform that calculations, and place the data back into the SQL database. Once everything is working correctly, then maybe I can convert everything into stored procedures.
