Not sure if anyone else has ever seen this happen before but here it goes:
We are running Outlook Express 5.5 from a server running on platform of Windows 2000 SP2 Professional. What has been happening recently is that a user launches OE 5.5 andaccess their account (which is on an IMAP server) and sees that there are new messages in their InBox (not MS’s local folders, but the IMAP folders).
It shows up a BOLD since it is unread, and they’ll open it to read it. If they close out the message after waiting a minimum of 10 seconds and proceed to go to another IMAP folder (ex. Sent Items) and then return to the InBox the read message(s) will show up as unread again.
The bizarre part about this situation if the user does the exact same steps then that message WILL NOT show as unread. Further if the message has sat for a period of time say 5-10 minutes (5 minutes is our ‘refresh’ rate to get messages) in the InBox this WILL NOT occur. This has happened both for our NC’s (mostly NCD ThinStar 200s) and PC’s when using Outlook Express.
