Hey everyone,
I have been in IT world for 6 years now, and I have yet to see a really convincing article why the we should not allow 2 GB mailboxes.
The reason for this question is that we are getting 75 new users, and our default mailbox size is 250 MB. The project manager that is overseeing these 75 new users is basically giving us the “what are you retarded?” They want 2GB per mailbox.
This has become especially difficult since Google is offering 2GB mailboxes to anyone and everyone.
Granted, I am not an Exchange guy, but I am on the front lines and get this question *all the time*, and I just don’t have convincing answers.
It seems that if there is not a cold hard cost to mailbox size, this battle between IT and the user base will go on forever.
I know that the answer is management, but a tech of my level can’t tell the big wigs that they are just being lazy (that’s the CIO’s job HA!).
Personally, I would love to charge back all the space to all the different companies and departments. Cost has a way of making people take you seriously. I find that IT costs are invisible to the different companies when it comes to this stuff and it should be. Dare to dream right?
Anyway, I am looking for several clear reasons that will make sense to the user base. If anyone has come across a well written, well thought out article or essay, I would love to read it.
Thanks
Aaron
