Scanner connection problem

I have a Visioneer Scanner that connects by USB. When I connect it, the computer acknowledges the connection, but when I try to use the scanner, it says “can not find hardware”. I’ve tried 3 different USB slots on the computer. I’ve installed the latest Visioneer drivers for the 8900 One Touch model; I’ve installed all the USB drivers I have. Other periferals work when connected to the USB slots. What I need is HELP.
