SCO Unix AsyncSelect

I am running an application (CQCS) on SCO UNIX version 6. The application has a Windows client that allows users to access it on GUI from their workstations. It wss possible to invoke the UNIX shell from the GUI when the application was on SCO 5.5. When I try it on SCO 6 I get the following errors:

1. Failed to receive data:the connection has been closed at the remote end
2. AsyncSelect failed on CQCS channel:Socket operation on non-socket
3. Error during send:Socket operation on non-socket
4. AsyncSelect failed on CQCS channel:Network is not initialised

Any ideas on how to sort this out?
