SMB 2003 server and email question

by dhyre . Updated 19 years, 5 months ago

I have a Win 2003 SMB server running in my home network. I have setup the exchange to use the pop3 connector to access my email which is hosted at network solutions along with my .com name. The problem I am having is that I can receive all my emails that are sent to my email address, but my email is being sent out in my .local email address and not my .com email address. The problem with this obviously is that most hosted email sites (aol, hotmail, etc.) require a reverse DNS for emails otherwise they will block it as spam. What I have tried to do to correct this is two fold:

1) Went into the users properties in AD > then the email addresses tab and added the .com email address and set it as the primary

That didn’t work.

2) Went into Outlook and tried to setup an internet account in addition to my exchange account settings. I also made sure that the internet account was the primary account setting (although this reverts back everytime when i log in. I assume this means there is some sort of logon script – not sure yet).

Basically, I haven’t yet figured out how to effectively have my email setup to send out and receive as the .com email address so that I can send to any email address that I have in my contacts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
