SQL Server 2K Connection Issue

by pmfphd . Updated 23 years, 9 months ago

I just installed MS SQL Server 2000 on Windows 2000 Server and I am trying to get Query Analyzer up and running. I am able to access my SQL server through Enterprise Manager, but when I try to connect to the server via the sa account in QA, I get the error message:

Unable to connect to server local:
Server: Msg 17, Level 16, State 1
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

The local server exists and is running. (I am, of course, using the correct password for the sa account.)

I installed the server with the default choices. I have changed the SQL Server Security Properties to:

Authentication:
SQL Server and Windows

Start and run SQL Server in the following account:
System Account

All other server properties are unchanged.

Can someone help me solve my conntion problem?

Thanks,
Paul
