SqlSetconnectattr failure

I have created a data source with all the relevant settings in ODBC. I am supposed to create queries in excel by linking to the database. Each time I try to connect to the database in excel I always get this error message “Drivers Sqlsetconnectattr failed” and then it comes up with a further message saying “can’t read this file”. I have checked microsoft’s website and the settings which they asked me to check in the registry are all okay but I still come up with the error. I have this problem with a particular PC, I have been able to connect using other PC’s
