Switched from DSL to Cable Problems

by drmarkweaver . Updated 19 years, 7 months ago

I recently changed over from DSL to comcast cable for my ISP. I have a wireless home network and a wireless business network (business still on DSL). I use 2 laptops between both. My business has a static IP address, home however isn’t, but home is setup through the router so that the laptops can connect. I have a wired pc that always stays at home and another laptop that also stays at home. When I changed from DSL to Cable my wired computer didn’t have any problems as well as the laptop that stays at home. However the 2 laptops that go back and forth to work will not connect to the internet except on one condition – when they go through the router/modem via VPN to my office. They used to connect without any problem, but now as they are there is a big speed difference. I made no changes to the router and obviously the modem changed from DSL to Cable. What changed that prevents me to use the direct connection to the internet at home instead of having to go through the VPN to the office? It doesn’t make any sense to me why I can access the internet at all. If there was a connection issue through the router or modem then how is it that it connects? If anyone has any idea how this could be fixed I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks
