Tape bad-recgnized by Brightstor Arcserve backup

Im using Backup software 11.5 but sometimes when i insert a new tape, i get a “BLANK MEDIA” surely isnt blank, is full of data, but some times i get the message Unrecognized medi, some times get fixed when i format the tape, but thats not a good solution.

Is there another way to access that tapes to recover files?
