tight vnc password

I have download and installed tight vnc (both the stable and the rc) I am using windows xp with all updates

I have tried to set up a password but i can’t
there seems to be an 8 “digit ” password installed alread when i try to change it i get the “*****”
but when i try my new password it doesn’t work
I check the password and then there are “********”
I have never set a password
i have deleted and reinstalled tight vnc and the release canidate 2 times no with no luck

Any help will be appreciated
