troubleshooting drivers with /verifier

I ran this utility and I never got a BSOD but my system only stays on briefly before the screen goes blank and is unresponsive. I have rebooted and attempted to go into safe mode but get a very brief BSOD that passes by so quickly that I cannot get any message from it. Then it requires me to select between boot options for normal boot and safe boot. I have tried all three safe boot options but only get back to a boot selection screen once again. I have booted normally and quickly ran the verifier /reset but I am still having the same problem so I don’t know if the run command has completed before the system “blacks out”.
