Unable to connect to Exchange from XP

by gnx . Updated 23 years, 10 months ago

I have an XP Profressional PC at one site (A) and my Exchange server is at another (B). The address for XP is 192.168.6.89 / 255.255.255.0 with default gateway 192.168.6.4. The address for the Exchange server is 192.168.5.10. I am using Exchange 5.5 and there are no plans to upgrade it to Exchange 2000 in the near future. I can ping the other servers at the site B from site A. Also there are other PCs at site A using Win98 that have no problem accessing the Exchange server for email. I also use the Exchange server for shared documents and can see those folders with no problem on the XP PC. It’s just accessing email from the XP PC that has a problem. The XP PC uses Office 2000 SBE. My routers are Bay Networks BayStack and are about5 years old. I have also tried Microsoft K.B. article 255843 – Unable to lo on to Exchange from Win 2000 / XP Client. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jim W
