USB Printer WakeUp Call

I have a USB-connected Samsung Color Laser Printer, running XP Pro on a Dell Dimension 2350. The only way I can get it to print is to request the print job, then disconnect and re-connect the cable.
I’ve reinstalled the drivers, replaced the cable, checked for errors in Device Manager.

Any ideas?
