Using iFrames…

I like using iFrames for loading text content into the existing layouts so that the same images and menus don’t have re-load every time a button is clicked – for example, http://www.amerigocompanies.com/newsletter/

That site loads all the content into the iFrame of index.html. But because I also have to directly link to the specific articles from the email version of the newsletter, each content-only page has a corresponding fully-laid-out page. I think this is inefficient. See http://www.amerigocompanies.com/newsletter/articles/1stqtr_2007/facelift.html (content only) and http://www.amerigocompanies.com/newsletter/articles/1stqtr_2007/facelift_1stqtr.html (full layout).

Is there some code – javascript or other – that I can put into the content-only pages (such as facelift.html, above) that, if directly accessed outside its “iFrame home” will load the index page with the content page in place? In other words, in the case above, if /newsletter/articles/1stqtr_2007/facelift.html is accessed directly, can it call /newsletter/index.html to open with /newsletter/articles/1stqtr_2007/facelift.html loaded into the iFrame?

I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the input.
