using outlook 2000 for internet mail

I tried using outlook 2000 for my pop3 mail account but it’s not working. I’m running windows 2000 professional and my way of connecting to the internet is through Microsoft Proxy 1. Everytime I tried to check mail I got this error “Unable to connect to the incoming mail server(POP3).Pls. verify the server name in the incoming mail server field and verify the port and SSL information. I need your help ASAP.
