vids:dvsd error running avi in ppt 2000

When inserting an avi in ppt, and then showing the presentation, I get the audio and a checkered square where the video should be. The error displayed is “Video not available: cannot find ‘vids:dvsd’ decompressor.”

I have 2 computers that have identical software, and it works on one but not the other. I’ve install all codec, ms update, office update, and media player updates as of today. The only difference I see in the two systems is the cpu.

Any clues?
