View faxes on PDA/portable in badwhether

I am looking for a way to view incoming faxes under bad rain & mud/greeze conditions (open space, around 10 square miles/kilometers area).

I was thinking of either a PDA (in a kind of case, to be protected) or a portable PC. The PC would have to have a touch screen, so that it is easy to steer.

The communication should be wirefree (either GPRS or WiFi).

Do you have any suggestion for the different components – starting with the fax viewing capability?
