viewing .cdb files

does anyone know of a program which allows you to open a .cdb file, i don’t have a copy of access to test whether that would do the job, i have tried to open it with openoffice.org base, which i imagine should have done it if access could.
the file is from a backup of the contacts on a sony erricsson p800 and the user needs to get them back (he threw the phone against a wall so obviously does not work anymore)
if anyone can give me any help it would be most appreciated

cheers
