Here’s the problem. This machine will play pogo all day long but when I go to comcast.net to check an e-mail account the computer freezes ie. curser stops responding, and then screen goes black(sometimes you can still see the cursor other times it is completely black. ctrl-alt-delete doesn’t work. Also, not sure if it is related but 2x I have got BSOD with: Machine_Check_Exception STOP: 0x0000009c (0x00000004,0x80545ff0,0xb2000000,0x00070f0f) Which I’ve read is hardware related but not sure which part.
So far I’ve uninstalled Norton System Works 2006, disconnected everything except the hard drive and memory, updated bios and drivers. I don’t think the processor is overheating because it seems to run POGO for hours without fail.
Checked PWS voltages with ATX Power supply tester and DVOM.
I tried adding a 128MB ATI chip 8x agp card it went BSOD with same error within 30 seconds of OS startup.
Been trying to figure this out for a week now and am thinking of reloading Windows without anything else to see if that cures the problem as I don’t have any faith in Norton’s, and I do not know if after uninstall it still leaves remnants in the OS
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
