First of all, an apology to all. Yes, a client has AOL on a cable modem.
I recently replaced his motherboard. The new motherboard is an Elitegroup (ECS) K7S5A with a 1000 Duron chip. It runs great except sound is too quiet (see question I posted on that in troubleshooting) EXCEPT I can’t get AOL to work.
Installation works great, but when it connects to AOL (via tcp/ip) it hangs the entire system. Sometimes I even get the blue screen of death. I was afraid it was my cd, so I used adifferent one, even tried an older version (was using 7.0, tried 6.0 too). Same result.
Why would AOL lock a system that isn’t even using its ISP? The other software works great. Internet Explorer works great as long as you don’t try to use AOL. Outlook (with ISP) works great as long as you don’t try AOL.
Any ideas? He really wants his AOL.
