My question is why do people insist on using Windows XP in a network enviroment? My take on WXP is that it replaces WME for home users. Hense the need to “log on and activate” XP by sending your system configuration to Microsoft and they in turn monitor where that copy goes (re you upgrade your machine hardware and ooops, things don’t work cuz esentially Microsoft sees that copy being installed on a different machine it wasn’t licensed to be on). XP doesn’t offer any better operating system [really worse] than W2k for network environments. XP is really better suited for home users who surf the web, play music, watch movies or streaming media videos and to provide Microsoft a way to control illegal pirating of their O/S. W2K, which you can install remotely on client computers either attended or unattended is far better way to go. SO WHY XP?
