Windows update does not work

When I select microsoft windows update the W2K pro computer returns a blank page on windows IE.

This has occured after installing Nortons 2003 virus program.
Other problems are also occuring, Peachtree program locks up after a script error dialog box is displayed and the only way to recover is us task manager to halt program.
One person has tried to remove the Norton virus program but can’t find it now.
