So one day I am cruising along, and I go to open a MS Word document only to have it stall on the splash screen, and Dr. Watson decides to say hello. Nothing really jumps out at me as being out of the ordinary so I reboot and try again with the same result. So I just figure something in word has gotten corrupt, so I remove word (through the installation dialogue), reboot, then reinstall. This does not work either, I get the same result. So then I re-apply service pack 6a (this is on a NT 4 Workstation) and reboot with the same result. By this time I am running late so I have to drop the issue. My quick fix is to install OpenOffice.org and edit my Word documents that way.
So today I tackle the problem again by downloading the Office 2000 resource kit and using the uninstaller included in that I completely remove office 2000 premium. Then I do the normal uninstall, then I reboot, then completely reinstall, and I still have the same problem.
Thank you for your help!
