wireless keyboard

I am using an hp wireless keyboard and have not been impressed with same. The reciever for the wireless is part of a media centre setup and has the i/r wire attached to the face of the cable modem;then going to one of the i/r recievers that sit on the desk.Will any wireless work or does the i/r config need consideration?Any opinions? thanks jerry
