WMP network, server, proxy problem

I am attempting to access a video file (wmv) from an Intranet site – The Error Message

“Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct.”

performed a rollback on wmp 10.0 – back to 9, this allowed the file to play only once and then the error returned. Reinstalled 10.0 and still have the problem. Other computers on the same network have access to this file and playback is normal.

Any suggestions
