Word 2000 Specific

I am using Office 2000 whioch running on Win 2000 professional. Everytime a receive a Word document with pictures in, I cannot see the pictures. If I double-click where the picture is and get into Edit Picture, I sometimes I can see the picture. I can print the document and the picture sometimes printout. Any Ideas/Suggestions??
