word printing problem

I have a problem with word printing a document once then it wont print again
the pc is running winXP, word is part of Office 2000 the printer and pc is part of a network, the docs will print on other machines, no recent changes have been made on the pc, the docs are on a network share but still will not print when saved to the local HDD and attempted from there. when trying to print the docs the standard printing message box appears briefly then the XP shut down message box.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the printer and Office
