Word Repeats

I am using MS word 2000 and the problem is that when I type a word and then hit the space bar the word repeats. I have tried to find a setting to no avail and have removed MS office and reinstalled after refreshing the Windows Files. Still no joy. OS is Windows 2000 SP4 all Updates, Machine is not on the internet so no antivirus software running. Have tried starting defaults startup and does the same thing. Help I have exhausted my resources. Have found nothing on the internet or from MS.
