Workgroup Problems in a Wireless Network (netbios?)

by downrighttired . Updated 19 years, 7 months ago

This is a problem Ive seen several posts about and no good solid answeres. In my case (the most recent example anyway) we have an office with 6 pc’s running windows XP. All the pc’s are networked wirelessly(not my choice!!) with static IP’s. The users have a multitude of shared folders they use back and forth daily. This office has been up and running (fairly) smoothly for a couple years. All of a sudden one day when trying to access a shared folder you get the “you dont have permission to access this..” speech from windows. Sometimes you can see the computers in network places but clicking them either gets you the no permission or cant find it error. PC’s can all ping each other and have internet access. Resetting the workgroup names does no good. Ive run into this problem before, always involving a wireless pc. have sometimes been able to work around it by adding a network place and using the ip and share name. Is this a netbios problem? anyone know of any issues with wireless and netbios?
