This week, the National Cybersecurity Alliance kicked off its second-annual Data Privacy Week campaign. Over the course of this week, the organization and its global partners will work together to create more awareness around personal data privacy and protection as well as how organizations can better protect the privacy of their customers.

Whether you’re an individual who wants to understand and secure your personal data or you’re a business leader who wants to commit your organization to better data privacy and governance practices, the National Cybersecurity Alliance has produced many digital resources that could be helpful in your quest.
In particular, NCA and several of its partners are hosting Data Privacy Week virtual events where you can listen to data security experts, learn about today’s most pressing data privacy issues, and even share some of your own tips and advice.

The events listed below are Data Privacy Week webinars and conversations hosted by the National Cybersecurity Alliance and its partners. Keep in mind that Data Privacy Week and Data Privacy Day are both widely recognized events in the data and security spaces, so other technology and security leaders may be hosting similar events.
In this data privacy conversation designed specifically for individuals and families, attendees can learn about their personal data trail and how to better track and secure family data. LinkedIn’s head of privacy, Kalinda Raina, will be joined by Phil Weiser, Colorado’s attorney general, as well as leaders from ConnectSafely.org, Snap INC and Future of Privacy Forum.

The National Cybersecurity Alliance will be hosting a live Twitter chat event through its Twitter account, @StaySafeOnline. Although this conversation will likely be geared more toward a business audience, consumers are also welcome to join and learn more about data privacy. Interested attendees and experts can share their own tips and advice while connecting with other data privacy experts.

This data privacy event, hosted by the R Street Institute, is both an in-person and virtual event for anyone who is interested in learning about current data privacy legislation and the direction the U.S. Congress is taking with future data privacy legislation and initiatives. More specifically, data privacy and security experts will weigh in on the need for a federal data privacy and security law. This conversation will include commentary from members of the congressional Consumer Protection & Commerce Subcommittee, the Center for Democracy and Technology, and the Center for Technology Innovation at The Brookings Institution.

Data Privacy Week is an annual initiative, first started by the National Cybersecurity Alliance in 2022. It is an extension of Data Privacy Day, an international awareness day that takes place each year on January 28th. With a newly-weeklong program of events, the National Cybersecurity Alliance and its partners have expanded the data privacy campaign to offer a variety of learning resources, virtual events, and ways for interested individuals and organizations to commit to better data privacy. In 2023, Data Privacy Week will be observed January 22-28.
The National Cybersecurity Alliance is a nonprofit organization that focuses on data privacy awareness and hosts Data Privacy Week each year.
