1ST boot after install no video in XP

I formated my hard drive and did a clean install of xp pro and after the 1st boot I get the windows xp banner rolling across the screen and then i lose video please help, ive tried everything I can think of. I have a pII 300 mhz with 256 pc 133 ram and nvidia 3d on board graphics. no other cards are installed at this time.
