2 Win2000 pcs share printer via switch

by lou1 . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

Everything worked until we migrated these users all to Windows 2000 PCs. I have come across this issue 2 times in 1 week. In both instances 2 PCs are sharing their printer locally via switch. Here’s the catch…in both cases only one PC is able to print normally. The one that can’t print cannot even see the printer. If I directly connect them to the printer everything works. A coworkers suggestion is to make them buy jet directs & just put the printers on the network, but I know there must be some setting somewhere I could change to allow everyone to print. One more thing is that when I try to print test pages the PC says the printer is not detected/ set up, but yet the test page comes out, but it’s only the top 2 lines. I did try to change time out settings, bidirectional…different things in the printer properties pages, but nothing really solved the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
