250GB SATA Drive not Recognized by Award BIOS

I have a 250GB Maxtor DiamondMax 21 IDE HDD with an IDE to SATA adapter plugged into a Biostar P4M80-M4 Motherboard to replace the 160GB IDE that crashed after 5 years of contentious use.

The Motherboard uses the Award BIOS and I have not been able to get the BIOS to recognize the new SATA drive. I was hoping to use the adapter to speed up the transfer rate for gaming and such.

Can anyone provide suggestions on how to configure the Award BIOS to see the SATA HDD?
