3D Studio Max and Maya Hardware recommendation

I am planing to update my PC, present configrations are 1.2 GH AMD athlon Processor and 512 MB RAM.

pls suggest me what are the minimum and best hardware recommendation to install latest 3D Studio Max and Maya application.
